We are in a desperate search to locate:
Ronald Veach
1582 W 1100 N
Knightstown, Indiana

His brother Corporal Ralph Veach was also from the Knightstown & Rush, Henry, Hancock and Shelby county area. Ralph was killed in World War II in the Southwest Pacific and is honored at the Manila American Cemetery where his name appears on the "Tablets of the Missing". Ron has never seen his name on the wall to our knowledge and we wish to give him a free photo of that view. Please help us if you can! If you are from near there please give Ron a ring and tell him to contact us at our email address here in the Philippines. A few moments of help could bring some joy to this family.

Indiana Soldiers and Sailors
http://fizkid.tripod.com/
Hello, I am a retired American veteran residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. A year ago we visited the memorial as visitors but came home with a mission in our hearts. As we gazed over the beautifully manicured acres and the 17,202 American graves, it was obvious only a few families had ever visited their graves.
I stepped into the soft grass and focused my camera on one of the white crosses, a grave of an Ohio soldier. A strange calmness was in the air as I walked a few more steps and a cross of an Indiana soldier lay square in my path. The letters of the inscription on the marker was bolder than ever, here lay a soldier from my home state.
At that moment a quiet brainstorm aroused my humble thoughts. I wondered if I could locate any of the families of these men. My stride became more defined and within a few moments I had located and photographed eight more graves.
Since those gut-wrenching but touching moments we have energized our efforts in finding the families of these American men from Indiana. We have located well over 100 and have delivered the FREE photographs to them via email.
Please visit our website and see the men we have honored and the families we have assisted in finding a more genuine closure of a horrible tragedy.
http://fizkid.tripod.com/
Our success in finding the families was the result of journalists, amateur genealogists, historians, historical societies, librarians and lots of wonderful Hoosiers and those with Indiana ties across America.
During our search we have also reached families from other states as well and have filled special requests for photos from the Manila American Cemetery. We presently have photographed only the graves of the Indiana soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen; however we have photographed all of the names that are engraved on the "Tablets of the Missing". We offer them free of charge to anyone who asks.
We ask for your help in finding their families. We understand this is a genealogy board but we do not need immediate genealogy in that form, we need leads to find the families. Please become one of our special volunteers today and find the family of an Indiana serviceman from near your home. A list of the men from your Indiana county is available, free and all you must do is request it.
Ralph Veach
Corporal
United States Army Air Force
320th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group Heavy
Service Number 35255726
Rush County – Indiana
DOD - January 16, 1946
He is missing or buried at sea
His name is honored on the “Tablets of the Missing” at
Manila American Cemetery – Philippines
We have found the following reference at the Indiana State Library website; World War II database. We do not have the information because we do not have access to the microfilms here in the Philippines but we are hoping for some help from our posting. Our goal is to find the families of Indiana servicemen and present them with free photographs of their loved one’s grave sites or their names as they appear on the “Tablets”. This information will increase our chances of finding the families. Please help us!

I can help you with Corp. Ralph Veach. One of his brothers is the "honorary uncle" of my husband. Ronnie's address is:
Ronald Veach
1582 W 1100 N
Knightstown, IN 46148
I think perhaps there were 2 more brothers living in the Cincinnati, OH area. One of them is in quite poor health.

Well, I'm clearer this evening. Nancy Jane, the mother is a
Kenneday---she's not and she's not the mother of Nancy Jane the daughter.
Nancy Jane the daughter apparently is the correct Nancy Jane. Sheesh it all
gets so confusing. K

Isn't this the Joseph Swain, s/o Obed L Swain b 29 Apr 1809 NC & Eunice 08
Jul 1814 - 16 Jul 1899? I show they are buried in Davis Cemetery along with
Joseph L. and Nancy Jane (Pollitt) Swain.
I would be interested in knowing who Obed was the son of and the maiden name
of Eunice.

Hi Linda,
I am also researching the Tuckers of Shelby Co., IN--my husband's

was Vera E. Tucker Hauk, daughter of William Ephraim and Emeline Green
Tucker. William
was son of James Cole J. and Martha Babb Tucker. James Cole J. was son

I have found a website by Sheila Watson with a wealth of information

Actually the spelling of Pollitt with an "i" is the correct spelling. I'm
distantly related to a Pollitt (now married to a Fox) currently living in
Shelby County.
The Nancy Pollitt in the 1860 census is Lambert Pollitt's second wife,
Nancy Kenneday Pollitt. Lambert's first wife was Mary Meredith and their
first child was the Nancy J. Pollitt mentioned in the earlier query. I've
got sources if anyone needs them.

Nancy Jane Pollitt (born about 1843) was the daughter of Lambert Pollitt
and Mary Meredith. If this looks like the person you're researching,

Wanda, wow you really started digging!? How very kind! Yes, I have these documents. John B. got around didn't he? : ). He was
also married to a Mary Hurst but she died very shortly after they were
married. I think it's likely that Nancy J. Pollitt was associated with the
Pollett family you found in Hanover but she wouldn't have been a wife. I
couldn't remember off hand which Swain she was married to.
Now, Nancy Jane Smith, the third wife and my husband's direct line, was born
a Smith 2 October 1853, married first John R. Gordon (who was killed in a
horrific saw mill accident), then to Francis Marion Bogue (marriage ended in
divorce) and then to John B. I think Nancy Jane's parents were William and
Elisabeth Smith. She had a brother they called "O.B." I think for Obediah.
My father-in-law says it was for "Old *******" .

ILL THREE WEEKS WITH FLU
----------
Mrs. Nancy J. Moore, age 72, passed away this morning at four o’clock, at
her home south of Gwyneville, after an illness of three weeks with influenza.
She was born October 2, 1853, and was the widow of John Moore, who died about
seven years ago. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Bert Kennedy, of
Arlington and William Moore, of near Fairland, thirteen grandchildren and three
great grandchildren. There are also two brothers and a sister left to mourn her
death, William Smith of Winfield, Kansas, Oved Smith, of Indianapolis and
Mrs. Henry Gordon of Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Friends church Sunday afternoon at
two o’clock with Rev. Charles Young, of Shirley, officiating. Burial will be
made in the Friends cemetery near the church in charge of Carmony Brothers.
All I could find out about Nancy J. Smith is her father was born in Ireland
and her sister Mrs. Gordon first name was Melvina born 1855. no relation to
my family. Wanda
