After Hiram and Hannah are married in Shelby Co. IN, they move to near Rochester/Richland Twp. Fulton Co. Indiana. They are in the 1840 with 2 ch., 1850 with 5 ch., 1860 with 3 ch., 1870 with no ch. and 1880 Census with no ch.
In the 1860 Fulton Co. IN Census, Hannah is listed as born in Tennessee. In other censuses, she is listed as born in Pennsylvania.
In the 1870 Fulton Co.IN Census, there is a Julia Hartley, age 77 b. New Jersey living with William Neff b. PA and wife Malinda b. PA and their 4 children:
Elizabeth age 16, b. PA; Lafayette, 10 b. VA; Martha 6, b. PA; Mary 7 (or 4) IN
Was Malinda a "Hartley", a sister of Hannah and dau. of Julia Hartley who's living with them???
In the 1850 Richland Twp. Fulton Co. IN Census, there is a Jasper Hartly, age 35, b. 1815 PA with wife Lydia A. 30, b. abt. 1820 Maryland and son Firdenham(Ferdinand??), age 4. Jasper could be a brother to Malinda and Hannah and a son of Julia Hartley or maybe not.

I hope this helps in some small way. Good luck in your continuing research.
I'm not related to you. I'm just practicing a "genealogical kindness" like so many have done for me.

Former Shelby Co. IN Resident
Thanks so much for the Wicker information & the burial data. Elijah Wicker
was David L. Wicker's brother. I don't know who Ora or Della were.
I believe that David L. Wicker had three marriages. If this is wrong, please
let me know.
1) Sarah Vance c. 1825 in NC. She died August 24, 1870.
2) Permelia Bassett on October 12, 1872 in Shelby Co.
3) Celia Jane Lemons on March 31, 1880 in Shelby Co.
What is bothering me is that I can't seem to locate the burial location of
Permelia Wicker or Permelia (Davis) (Drake) Bassett. Perhaps she is buried
with her first husband or her mother Clarissa (Viers) Davis, both of whom I can't
locate.
Permelia Davis married 2 times that I know of.
1) William Drake on September 20, 1835 in Shelby Co. He died c. 1842.
2) Samuel Bassett on July 27, 1845 in Shelby Co. He died in 1864 during the
Civil War in GA.
I am probably wrong about all of this, but I keep wondering if the 2nd
Permelia married David Wicker & then they got divorced.
Does anybody have access to estate records for these families? I'd like to
rule out the divorce theory.

Hi Mary, the burial location for David L. Wicker is as follows:
Blue River Chapel Cemetery located in Marion township Shelby County, Indiana
on road 400 E, south of road 600 N, on the wsest side of the road.
Row 5 South to North
David L. Wicker Dec 11, 1806 - May 2, 1896
There is no Permelia Wicker listed with him, but these are buried by him.
Ora Wicker 1878 -1932
Della Wicker 1877 -1950 (2 on stone)
Elijah Wicker Sept 27, 1818 - Dec 11, 1898
Also, shows in Shelby County Marriage Book the following:
David L. Wicker married Permelia Bassett Oct 12, 1872 Book 10 page 59
David L. Wicker married Celia Jane Lemons March 31, 1880 Book 11 page 429
In the Shelby County Death Record is the following:
David L. Wicker Male White 99 May 2, 1896 Died Hanover Township- Book H-21
page 21 also look at page 26 same book.
The death date is the same as the cemetery burial date, they may have just
written it down wrong at some time, I am sure this is the same person.
There are numerous Wicker's listed, it does not show either wife, Permelia
or Celia.
Hope this helps, good hunting, Linda Ellis Mount Vernon, Washington

Desperately need census lookup for Hartley Families living in Shelby County Indiana in the early 1800's.
Looking for a family who would have had a daughter Hannah Hartely born about 1816 or a couple of years either side of 1816 (1814,1815-1817, 1818). I'm interested in any/all Hartley families living in that area at that time. Am also intersested in any Anderson families that might have lived close to Hartley families. It is believed the Hartley's moved from Bucks Co. Pa. to Shelby Co.
Hannah Hartley married Hiram Anderson
in Shelby Co. In. 9 Nov. 1836.
I have been unable to find any trace of her parents or siblings anywhere.
Being partially handicapped I am unable to travel any longer to do research so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in for your much needed help.

If you are a PAF user, would you please email me? I have never used that particular database and someone is asking me questions about creating reports that can be emailed.
Thanks,

Mary, I am descended from the Wickers of Shelby Co. I
have some information and may have the obit of David
L. Wicker in my files. I would assume that David and
Permelia are buried in Little Blue River Baptist
Church cemetery as are many of the Wickers.
