Thanks, Rick. It's possible there is no family link between Cooksons and Browns, maybe they were just close neighbors. In any event, I would appreciate knowing if you run across any Cookson/Brown connection. Irene

Jana, this is not my family. I did not find John F. Ballard and Ursula H. McDuffee Ballard in any of the marriage records. I did not find them in the death Records, or in the birth records, for the county of Shelby, Indiana. The only thing I did find is as follows:
Trackwell Cemetery located in Liberty Township, Shelby Co, Indiana. The cemetery is on SR 244 at the T of road 750 E. It is on the north side of SR 244.
Row 4 North to South
John Ballard Mar 31, 1856 84Y
Cloey Ballard Nov 9, 1863 83Y
Thomas Ballard Sept 23, 1838 24Y7M5D
Mary Ballard April 18, 1849 1Y5M24D footsonte M.B.
Marion Ballard April 19, 1849 1Y5M25D footstone M.B.
Row 5 South to North
Sylvester M. Ballard Apr 22, 1835 - April 17, 1871 husband footstone S.M.B.
Ursuley Hariet Ballard Oct 4 1865 50Y10M18D wife of J. E. Ballard with a footstone initials U.H.B.
California L. Ballard March 11, 1859 3M14D
Gerone Ballard Mar 21, 1865 10Y7M2D son of J. F. & J. H. Ballard
Not sure if this is your family members. For Shelby county in the cemetery listings here are the names listed for Ballard:
Armekia, California, Cloey, Elijah, Gerone, Grace, John, John M., Marion, Martha, Mary, Priscilla, Richard, Sylvester M., Thomas, Tommy, Ursuley Hariet, W. L.
There are Ballard names for Forest Hill Cemetery:
A.B., Albert, Bertha, Bristol, Charlotte, Chester, Chester E., Clara, David E., Dorothy, Earl R., Emma, Ethel E., Ethel M., Florence (Cartmel), Goldie, Hattie, Janet L. John D, John H., Maggie May, Maria , Marjorie, Mary A., Mary E., Maude, Minnie H., Omer G, Paul, Pauline, Russell, Shirley B., Silas, Sylvester, William C., William W.,
If you need any of these, let me know. Sorry could not be of more help. Linda Ellis Mount Vernon, Washington

That's right. My husband and I are members of the Nail/Wray Association and
this Edward Ray and the rest in Union Twp. are not the same group as ours in
Brandywine Twp. I only gave you Union Twp. info because that's where Ray's
Crossing is.

The Rays/Wrays in the Fairland/Boggstown area came in the 1820's and are a
separate group unrelated to the Rays for whom Rays Crossing is named.

Announcement 11-10-2004:
The Historic Atlas Series: 19th Century County Maps now has its own domain:
http://www.historic-atlas-series.com
The former URL located on the HAR web site will remain for a limited time; so please change your bookmarks to continue visiting these web pages.
The current web site includes 19th century maps and atlases from: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The state of Pennsylvania will be added in the next few weeks. Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia are planned next year.
Individual county maps are useful for identifying 1874 transportation routes, railroads, canals, streams and rivers, cities, towns and villages, and early place names. One-room schools, churches, cemeteries and other cultural features are also included in the county maps.
The city and village plat maps in the Minnesota Atlas are often more detailed with many early property owners identified; industrial sites including a variety of stores, factories and mills; State and local government sites: cemeteries, churches, schools, fair grounds, race tracks, asylum & hospitals; and much more.
The high resolution digital map data is presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and the Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on each CD.
Thanks for reading,
Rich Green
