Carlis,
There was an article in the Shelbyville News about that last summer. I don
t know if you could find the article by going to the newspapers web site and
doing a search or not. (www.shelbynews.com) One of my friends was in that
class that did that. She would probably be glad to talk to you when she
returns from a trip next week.

I'd previously done some reading on the Whetzel Trace and found that there
are lots of articles out there on the trace. Here are but a few links. Enjoy!
Karen
David Craig wrote an article on the trace, published in the Shelbyville News,
2-9-2000, still available:
http://shelbynews.com/main.asp?Search=1&ArticleID=8112&SectionID=42&
SubSectionID=84&S=1
Ahnjayla Beal wrote an article on the the Red Mill near the trace in
Boggstown, published in the Shelbyville News, 6-26-2002, still available online:

This site has pages retyped from the book "History of Whetzel's Trace, Early
Indiana Trails and Surveys" by George R. Wilson:

Whetzel Trace started at Laurel, Franklin Co, IN and ended near Waverly,
Morgan Co, IN. A photo of Jacob Whetzel's gravestone can be found here:

This site has a page from the "Centennial History and Handbook of Indiana" by
George S. Cottman. This and the next site has a bit of history on the
Whetzel family.

I'm sure there's more out there. Happy hunting!

I too would like information regarding the path of the Wetzel Trace as I'm
pretty sure my James Lee family migrated that way to Shelby Co., from the Mason
Co., Ky region.
Also: I haven't heard from you regarding the cost of the last batch of Lee
paper you sent.
Ethel B Simons
I think the Shelby Co. Historical Society traced that years ago when my uncle Hayes McFadden was in it. I haven't seen the exact
route but it seems to have gone right past your home. Of course your home wasn't there yet so they couldn't stop in for coffee,
giggle.

Shelbers,
I am posting the following message in hopes that family members might be
reunited with family pictures. If no family members come forward at this
time, Charlene would like for Phyllis or I to hold on to the pictures until
we can reunite them with family. She has had them for 10 years and has no
need for them
Thanks,
Melinda

I have a lot of pictures of a family that use to live in Shelby Co. They are
of Bryant, Rediker, McKinney. and related family members. I don't want to
throw them away as I am sure someone would like to have them.I have had
these for 10yrs, and don't know what to do with them. There is a med. size
box, I know some of these people were from Ky.
My ph # is 812-526-9695 (Edinburgh)
Thanks
Charlene

Susan,
I posted this obit about a week ago. I see that the mail is starting to
come through -- but it is at least a week behind.
