The library charged me $2.00 for a search plus .15 per copy. I was amazed at
the amount of information she had on my request.
Corasue is very friendly and helpful.

Rose,
By the way, they will charge you by the hour for look-ups. I don't know for
sure what their going rate is, but you are better off asking Phyllis or me
to do the look-up for you.

Shelbers,
Phyllis and I both sent out messages on Thursday so that you would have
warning. Rootsweb was on downtime for maintence. They didn't give a time
limit on the repairs, but had promised to get it done as quickly as
possible. It seems that it took them most of the weekend since today was
the first that messages have gone out on the lists. I'm sure that some of
the sites will take a little longer to work out the bugs. I think that if
you continue to have problems accessing a rootsweb page, you might try
sending e-mail to rootsweb's webmaster. I'm sure that their main page would
be up and running with no problems. If not, I think that the e-mail address
for them is: webmaster(a)rootsweb.com
I hope that they were able to accomplish what they had planned so that we
can all get back to work and fun. :-) I hope that you all had more fun on
your down time then I did.
Melinda
Phyllis,
I was wondering if the lists were down too. I haven't been getting anything
from any of them, and I'm on a bunch.
My Rootsweb Freepages are down too, of course.
By the way, I'm back working in Wichita, Kansas again.

A starch Factory does sound familiar but I'm not sure if it is one of the
Snepp BIOS. Will do a little research on it.

The Clerk's office will no longer accept personal checks. If you want
copies of marriage certificates ($1 each), please send cash or a money order
to the Shelby Co Clerk.

Hello list.
I would appreciate the address of the Shelbyville library if anyone has it
please. The genealogy dept. is what I am looking for.
I am interested in knowing if they can do some obit lookups for me. Thanks
Rose
Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned
temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It
will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased
performance and reliability for future growth.
In the meantime, please take time to visit RootsWeb.com's sister sites --
Ancestry.com and FamilyHistory.com -- where you will find additional tools
such as message boards, communities, and databases to help you in the search
for your ancestors.
Thank you for your patience.

The article below was sent to me from another list and thought it would be of
interest to others.
Cheri
In this morning's Indianapolis Star newspaper there was a short item in David
Mannweiller "Read All About It" column about the creation of an electronic
central list of the state's historic cemeteries and prehistoric burial sites.
Below is the contact information.
State seeks information on early graveyards
Hear the words of one brave woman; "No, I don't want them to write me, I want
them to call me."
That's Jeannie Regan-Dinius, whose title at the Department of Natural
Resources is database director, but whose job description might be Cemetery
Finder. If you know of an old cemetery in Indiana, she wants to hear from
you.
Last year, the Indiana General Assembly authorized the DNR to create an
electronic central list of the state's historic cemeteries and prehistoric
burial sites, but provided no money for the project. Regan-Dinius is the
only person involved in the effort to creat a new state registry and database.
By the end of this week, she hopes to have a form that people can fill out.
Eventually, she said, the public will have access to the completed database.
If you want to report a cemetery, call Jeannie Regan-Dinius at the DNR
Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology at (317) 232-1646. If you
or your group want to volunteer to help with the project, she really, really
wants to hear from you.
End of article.
Please forward this to any other Indiana lists. (I believe there are two
others.)

The brackets appear to mess it up. It is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/lelandva
Then go to my Indiana Roots, or actually my gedcom at rootsweb is more
up to date than any of my sites at this point, I am adding and making
changes faster than I can design web pages, and with no time to do it in
anyway.
The World connect address is:
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=rl1946
Still have 18 more pages of Brown info to enter, a large file on Sharp
and who knows what else. Still looking to expand my Walker line with help.
Rick Leland
Rick Leland ~ I have a WALKER line also on my website at
http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/savannah/252/homepage.htm and this would be under
my Wilcox/Sinex Genealogy Database and also have William S. WALKER on my Military page
as he served in the Civil War out of Indiana and also on my Documents pages are Walker
wills. Will check yours out for any possible connections also.
