I just sent a message to the Shelby Co. list with the subject "Re-German Baker Families"
I received a message in return from "wmiller01" with the same subject and an attached file.
The file was a virus. Luckily I caught it.

Jann,
Thank you very much for the information. They are all listed as "Baker" on local and census records, but that often happens. I have some of those records but not enough to connect them into families.
I want to make a web page for Shelby Co. Bakers and would like to include them.
Could you furnish me with info on these families for that? I would be happy to give you the credit for the research, and include your e-mail address, if you approve.
Check out this one I have on line now and it will give you an idea what I have in mind. I would get your approval on the finished page before I actually put it on line, if your name was on it.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jrbakerjr/bakerfamilies/kybakers...
My goal is to get as much Baker info on line as possible, and to connect Baker researchers.
I've been researching for 40 years.
Almost forgot. Mine are William, George and David in Hendricks Twp. They left Shelby in Aug. 1850 and went to Iowa.
Thanks again.
Jim

The early German Baker families that you list are more than likely Beckers.
George Michael Becker (Born 11 Mar 1811, died 5 Sep 1845) was married to
Catharina Westerman (Born 3 Mar 1810, died 24 Aug 1879). They had a
daughter Margaret born 13 Mar 1837 in Moerzheim, Rheinpfalz, Bayern, Germany
and died in Union Township 15 Sep 1922. Margaret married Valentine Posz on
9 Mar 1854. Valentine was born in Bayern (Bavaria) 15 Jan 1820 and came to
the US through New York in 1852. He died 26 May 1919. His parents werer
John Adam Posz and Margaret Shoemaker. George and Catharina also had a son
who died at a yound age- Johann Heinrich or John Henry Becker born 12 Jul
1840 and died 4 Oct 1850.
Conrad Becker was born 20 Jan 1803 and died 6 Oct 1848. Conrad married
Margaret Haehl who was born 19 May 1805 and died 6 Apr 1878. They had a
daughter, Margaret, born in Moerzheim 8 Apr 1831 and died 9 Feb 1888 in
Union Township. She married Jacob Theobold on 28 Nov 1848. He is the son
of Georg Michael Theobold and Maria Catharina Haehl.
Conrad Becker's full name is Johann Konrad Becker and he is the son of
Johann Heinrich Becker and Barbara Kopf. Conrad's wife is Anna Margaretha
Haehl and she is the daughter of Georg Michael Haehl and Anna Sibilla
Schwartz.
I have some further research on these families and would be happy to share
any specific information I have. Please let me know who your ancestor is.

My Bakers left Shelby in 1850. I haven't done any research on the Bakers that were there after that. Sorry.

I have some Baker information. Please contact me if you have more on this
line.
I believe John William Baker, (probable son of Peter J Baker) married Eliza
Harrell on August 08, 1878 Shelby Co., IN. She was the daughter of Judge Wick
"JW" Harrell & Lodema Ann Drake (Judge was a name, not a title).
My notes show that John William Baker was of Memphis, IN & that Eliza Harrell
Baker probably died January 21, 1946 in Jeffersontown, IN.
Probable children of John William & Eliza Harrell Baker:
Morrison H Baker (Listed in a newspaper report regarding the Reunion of W.
H. and J. W. Harrell printed 7-28-1935)
Herbert L. Baker (See Shelby County: Index To Birth Records Shelby County
1882-1920 Inclusive Volume I Letters A-L Inclusive)

A Henry Gird resided in Boggstown, Shelby County, Indiana, and was deceased sometime before Dec. 2, 1862. A Charles Coulter, Guardian of the Heirs of Henry Girder, owner of a house and lot in Boggstown on the above date. I am wondering if this is the same line of Gird's?

FYI
GEORGE GIRD, joint editor and proprietor of the Humboldt Sentinel, was born and reared in Shelby County, Ind., where he was identified with the farming and stock industry. In 1859, at the age of twenty-seven, he came to Nebraska and located in Richardson County, was actively connected with farming and stock raising, until 1882, when he retired from it and engaged in the present business, which he very ably represents. In 1855 he was married to Miss Mary E. Gossett, who was born and reared in Indiana. They have a family of four sons and three daughters living--William, Ida M. (now Mrs. David Speiser, jr.), whose sketch appears in this work, George, Mary, John, Arthur, and Gertrude. Mr. and Mrs. Gird buried their son Edward, aged sixteen years, February, of the present year in the Steele Cemetery, Falls City. Mr. Gird has always taken an active interest in the growth and development of the social and industrial life of his locality since coming to the State and has been an eff!
icient official in his county.

One of Byrum Harrell's daughters was an MJ Boyd,,listed in the August 4, 1874
will of Rev. Byrum Harrell of Shelby County, IN. (Probate Order Book 14, p.
226 A adm app. Bk 13, p. 22, Oct. 1874.) Does anybody know who her husband
was & if there were any children? A Mary J Boyd, assumed to be the same
person, is buried in Brandywine (Pinhook) Cemetery, Shelby Co., Indiana with
the dates Nov. 17, 1819-Dec. 4, 1892 on her tombstone.
Byrum's heirs were:
Eliza Smith dau.
Sydney Ensminger dau.
Eliz. J. Boon dau.
H.H. Harrell son
Matilda Hendricks son
G.S. Harrell son
Wm. H. Harrell son
Sally Harrell widow (Sally or Sarah Hubble/Hubbell)
M.J. Boyd dau.
Grandchildren: James Gorrell and Jane Gorrell, children of Sara
Gorrell dec.
Also belive that the Brandywine Cemetery inscription records of Georgann
Gorrell & Sally Ann Heath Gorrell might be incorrect & mixed up with Sarah
Harrell -- i.e. should really be for the Sarah Harrell, mother of the Gorrell
children listed above and probable mother of Georgann (1852-1853) who died
young . Would appreciate confirmation of this if possible & also a marriage
date for Sarah Harrell to George Gorrell. (A Sarah Ann Heath reportedly
married George Gorrell on May 17, 1855 in Parke Co., Indiana & had other
children by him.)
I am also interested in any information having to do with any of Byrum's
other heirs. Thanks!
Mary H.
