In my opinion it was probably done like a seminar, with someone who
traveled to the place to do it, like preachers who traveled, everything
waits for them to arrive and then a big rush to get it done.
Perhaps a circuit Judge arrived?

Jim;
Very interesting, what were other common factors (if any) such as
country of origin. Do you have a list of names? That is an unusually large group
for one day especially in a small county such as Ripley. The date would
make me think it was not connected to military service, but I have seen where
family members or folks who came over together would get together and be
naturalized at the same time. It "may" have something to do with purchasing
land or occupation, such as they all worked for the railroad and got
together to go in at the same time. Would love to know more.
