Can anyone tell me what records may be available at the Ripley County Courthouse or
Historical society regarding the 1870's?
According to the Violet Toph records on the web, JOHN MILLER of Shelby Township married
HANNAH HILL (sometimes seen spelled as HELL) on 14 July, 1876. In the 1880 census Hannah
Miller is widowed and living with her parents and siblings in Ripley County.
I want to find out when / why John died and confirm that he is my great-grandfather's
brother, either from a marriage license or death notice.
I also want to trace the ownership (forward and backward for at least 10 years) of a farm
that John Miller Sr. deeded to two of his children (Peter and Matthias) between 1878 and
1880. I have the legal description ( NE 1/4 of NW 1/4 Sec 34, Twnsp 6, Range 10E) Is it
possible to search the records by parcel?
I'm willing to make the trip to Indiana if the records are available. Thanks, Jan
