Thank you so much for the info, that helps a lot. I would have to look back in my old
notes; but I think the info about Emily Knollman came from a Knollman family genealogical
book that I had a chance to see a while back. If I ever find confirmation of this I will
let you know. But this does not fit with the info you have on the William who would be
Samuel's brother, so possibly it was a Schulenburg cousin(?) I would also like to
find out more about The parents of Samuel F. (?Henry and Margaret?). Is it known what
ship they came over on and when? Is there any info known about where Henry and Margaret
came from in Germany, or their ancestral lines?
My Aunt has an old picture that was taken in front of an old Livery / Carriage business
somewhere in Ripley or Dearborn counties. (Possibly right in Farmers Retreat) The sign
on the business says "Schulenborg and Beck" and includes Samuel and Elizabeth
and some other people on the street in front of the business. I will try to find out
something about that too when we are down there this Spring. A few years after Samuel
died, Elizabeth married a Rev Kretman (he was a widower with several children), at that
time, my grandfather, Martin Henry William Schulenburg, was about 12 years old. Later,
the Kretzman's and my grandfather all relocated to the Schenectady / Albany area-- I
think Kretzman took a church in Rotterdam NY. I wonder if that's the same Kretzman
who had married her and Samuel?
