Does anyone know anything about Dora and/or William? I would love to find
her birth parents, and would love to find out more information on William.
I have tracked her through the census' starting in 1870. Her second
husband, Henry Blume is in Ripley County, Indiana, with his parents in 1850
and 1860. I have no clue as to where she is in 1860. She and her daughter
Elizabeth/Eliza should be someplace. Where? I have no clue.
Dora Tebby/Tebbe was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1830. Her death
certificate says she was born December 25, 1837, in Germany, and died
January 13, 1931, in Bartholomew County, Indiana. On her death certificate
it states that her father’s name was William Kisling; it could also be
Kirling. She came to this country with her parents when she was six years
old, settled in Ripley County, Indiana, and lived in Jackson County,
Indiana, and eventually settled in Bartholomew County, Indiana, where she
died.
She first married William Weir, who was also born in Germany. William and
Dora had two little girls. Elizabeth/Eliza Weir who married Patrick Knott,
on March 20, 1877, in Jackson County, Indiana, and died March 7, 1932, in
Seymour, Jackson County, Indiana. William and Dora’s other daughter’s name
was Dora. From what I understand she was called “little” Dora.
There was an accident; I don’t know the exact nature of the accident or
where or when it happened only that William Weir drowned while Dora and her
two daughters watched from the bank helpless, not being able to do anything
except watch this whole tragedy. Later Dora remarried. On June 5, 1861, a
marriage license was issued in Ripley County, Indiana, to Henry Bloom and
Dorah Weir. On June 17, 1861, a certificate of marriage was filed in Ripley
County, Indiana, certifying that on the 7th day of June 1861 (Friday),
Lewis Reichter, Minister of the Gospel, joined in marriage Henry Bloom and
Dorah Weir.
