Hello Ripley County Researchers,
I'm seeking information concerning my JONES ancestors who were: Samuel
JONES & wife Catherine (Kitty) VanPelt. They came to Ripley County about
1820 from Fayette County, Ky. They lived near Cross Plains. They had
children: 1. Samuel jr. 2. Joseph 3. Eliza 4. Henrietta 5.
henry C. Henry C. was my gr grandfather who was born 5/2/1830 in
Ripley County. Ripley County Court records have the estate settlement
for Samuel who died 11/4/1834. Eliza took her siblings & went back to
Ky. except for Samuel Jr. Did Samuel Jr. get married & stay in Ripley
County? Did Kitty die before Samuel? Where are Samuel Sr. & Kitty
buried?
I'm trying to trace this JONES line back to the ones who came to
America. I would like to hear from anyone who might be able to help in
my search.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Edwin L. Jones ejones1(a)indy.net
Hi there. Don't know if this is any help:
My ancestors were William Mavity and Mary Jones Mavity. Mary was b.
1765 in Virginia. They moved to Ripley County around 1815-20.
Who knows, maybe her family followed her.
