I was in Ft. Wayne this week...........they have a Genealogy Library that is
part of their public library that is second only to Salt Lake City. I
looked at some old plat books that showed who owned the land at that time.
I could see where the farm was that one of my "greats" owned. This library
has some wonderful resources and while I didn't see pictures they could well
have some. I will be going back often and if I come across something will
let you know. My family is Williams, Runner, O'Neal, Bovard, Goodwin,Paugh,
Bassett..........Have I left any of Ripley County out. God bless.

Subject: Re: Ripley county IN. photo's
That's kind of a tough one....
Holton itself is on level farming land, but north, south and west, it
breaks into stream-cut valleys, with limestone showing here and there.
Covered bridges were built on some of the main routes (small country roads
now). The "Ripley County, Indiana, History," (1988) has some photoes in
black and white, but not a whole lot. Wonder if the Versailles Chamber of
Commerce would send brochures of the county attractions (although, Holton,
I fear, is not an attraction...).
Some old photoes would be a nice adjunct to Lori Hoffman's already
outstanding web page. Jessamine County, KY, has done this, and it's a big
hit.
