Carl, I am a descendant of John Gilliland who was born in NC abt 1774. He
moved to Ohio amongst other relatives, thence to Indiana (some went to
Iowa)Kansas and MO. My grgrandfather dropped an il in the name and it
became Gilland. Coffey Co., KS, Delaware and Grant Co., IN was a big
gathering. I am not familiar with the Iowa bunch, but I feel it is the same
family. Any connection there? - Andy Gilland, Midland, TX

Rick, If you are of the Osgood Gillands. you are a relative. I have
about 500
names who are immediate relatives with some of them being "shirt
tail" relatives. Archibald J. Gilland, who died in Andersonville prison
GA., and who was a Sgt in the Union Army (Ohio 27th Co F) was a great.
maybe (great, I'd have to look) great grandfather. Write back when you can,
and have any information sent to Carl Gilland, 707 10th St., Perry, IA
50220. Thanks
Carl Gilland
