Jean H. Stevens
Jean Henderson Stevens, 81, a resident of Woodcrest
Retirement Community, died Monday in Parkview
Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born in Holton, Indiana, on February 23,
1924, to George D. and Rissa E. Hammon Henderson.
She married Quentin C. Stevens on March 17, 1945; he
died on August 19, 1985.
She was a homemaker and a registered nurse for many
years, the last 15 at LaSalle High School in South
Bend. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church
of Decatur and the founder of the Woodcrest
Philharmonic Band.
Surviving are three sons, G. Carl Stevens of
Decatur; Bryce H. Stevens of Clinton, Tennessee; and
K. Alan Stevens of Plymouth; and four grandchildren.
Three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday in
Porter Auditorium at Woodcrest and at 3 p.m.
Thursday in Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home at
Versailles, Indiana. Burial will be in Cliff Hill
Cemetery at Versailles.
Visiting hours are 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in Porter
Auditorium and 2-3 p.m. Thursday in
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the church or to the
American Diabetes Association.
Funeral arrangements were by Haggard and Sefton
Funeral Home.
