Richard, I think my John Christian is different from yours. although I said that he moved
to Missouri, I am not certain of that fact. The John Dietz in the 1860 census has a wife
Margaret and daughter Hannah age 23. However my daughter Hannah was married in 1859 in
Muscatine IA and my John's wife was Hannah Millery, also from Wurtemburg.
I have a family letter that states the 1839 and 1843 facts, but I have yet to prove them.
It also states that Hannah was born July 6, 1837 in Ripley County IN--it does state that
John's children were John, Hannah, Elizabeth who married Alexander Lieber and
Benjamin. That fits with the 1860 census entry, sort of. It could be a second wife and
the wedding date that I have is wrong.
I must admit that I haven't done research on this family, Hannah Dietz would be my
great-grandmother on my mother's father's side.
All I can tell you, at this point, is that John Christian Dietz and his wife Hannah
Millery had my great grandmother Hannah in Ripley County, Indiana in 1837. therefore,
they must have arrived in this country prior to 1837, but that's as far as I know.
Let me know what you find out.
