William R. MOELLER, age 64 of Batesville, died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at
Margaret Mary
Community Hospital. Born August 19, 1943 in Batesville, he is the son of Opal
(Nee: WALTERMAN)
and Herman MOELLER. He married Leona KINKER November 28, 1964 at St. John’s
Catholic
Church in Enochsburg, Indiana.
Bill was an Airplane Mechanic for Hillenbrand Industries for 42 years, before
retiring in January
2006. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of St. Louis
Catholic Church, the
Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, Knights of Columbus Council #1461,
Fraternal Order of
Police and Eagles Aerie #1130.
He is survived by his wife Leona; sons Scott MOELLER and Gary MEYER;
daughters Carol
BERGMAN and Cheryl SIEBERT, all of Batesville; sister Ruth MEYER of
Oldenburg, Indiana; brother
Ken MOELLER of Hamburg, Indiana and 10 grandchildren. In addition to his
parents, he was
preceded in death by his granddaughter Lynn Ann BERGMAN and sister Dorothy “
Dots” MEYER.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 26th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home,
with a prayer service
at 7 p.m. Funeral services are Thursday, September 27th, at 10:00 a.m., at
St. Louis Church in
Batesville, with Rev. Dennis DUVELIUS officiating. Burial will be in the
church cemetery, with military
graveside rites conducted by Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and Prell-Bland
American Legion
Post #271. Memorials may be made to Batesville E.M.S.-10 or to New Horizon’s
Rehabilitation Center.
2) Delores A. SCHULER
(May 18, 1933 - September 23, 2007)
Dolores A. SCHULER, age 74 of Batesville, died Sunday, September 23, 2007, at
The Waters of
Batesville. Born May 18, 1933 in Oldenburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of
Josephine (Nee:
SUDING) and Raymond WISSEL. She married Paul SCHULER June 18, 1955 at St.
Louis Church
and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1990.
Dolores was a homemaker and a member of St. Louis Church.
Dolores is survived by her mother Josephine of Batesville; sister Mary Jane
RUDOLF of Batesville;
brother Arnold WISSEL of Westport, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her
husband and father, she was preceded in death by her sister Clara Jon
HANKINS.
Visitation is Friday, September 28th, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at St. Louis
Church. Funeral services
follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may be
made to the Phi Beta
Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
3) Carl V. KAISER
(June 5, 1922 - September 21, 2007)
Carl V. KAISWE, age 85 Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, September 21, 2007,
at his residence. Born
June 5, 1922 in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, he is the son of Frances (Nee:
BUEHLER) and William KAISER.
He married Frances WERNER October 25, 1954 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg
and she preceded
him in death on May 21, 2001.
Carl served in the Army during WWII, earning two bronze stars. Following the
service, he worked 16 years
as truck driver for Batesville Casket Company and 18 years as a mechanic for
the Hill-Rom Company.
Carl drove Batesville Caskets’ first company owned truck. He was a member of
Holy Family Church,
Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183, Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the
Ripley Co. 40/8. Carl
loved to fish and would go every chance he got. He also enjoyed being with
Chaz’s and his friends and
often times would whip up breakfast or put on a pot of chili for everyone.
He is survived by his son Chaz of Batesville; sisters Rita McGREEVY of
Versailles, Ohio, Betty HOLTEL
of Oldenburg and brother Victor KAISER of Batesville. In addition to his wife
and parents, he is also
preceded in death by sister Irene Treon and brothers Luke and Cyril “Rex”
KAISER.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 25th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral
Home, with a prayer service at
7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 26th, at Holy Family
Church and Rev. David
KOBAK will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the
Batesville V.F.W. and the Prell-Bland
American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Legion.
3) Craig M. DUVELIUS
(January 31, 1984 - September 16, 2007)
Craig M. DUVELIUS, age 23 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and formerly of
Batesville, died Sunday,
September 16, 2007 at his home. Born January 31, 1984 in Batesville, he is
the son of Lori (Nee: GOVER)
and Jeff DUVELIUS.
Craig was attending Middle Tennessee State University and worked for Domino's
Pizza while attending
school. He enjoyed flying and had received his pilot's license in February of
this year.
In addition to his parents, Jeff is also survived by his sister Erin
DUVELIUS, of Murfreesboro; maternal
grandparents Aline and Wayne GIVER of Cincinnati; paternal grandparents
Daniel and Jeanne DUVELIUS
of Indianapolis; two aunts; two uncles and several great aunts and uncles.
Visitation is Friday, September 21st, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home,
with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22nd, at Holy Family
Church in Oldenburg, with
Rev. Dennis DUVELIUS officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

4) Estella A. MERKEL
(November 2, 1924 - September 14, 2007)
Estella A. MERKEL age 82 of Batesville, died Friday, September 14, 2007 at
her home. Born November 2,
1924 in Decatur County Indiana, she is the daughter of Elizabeth (Nee:
EFFING) and Dave SCHWERING.
She married Virgil MERKEL October 18, 1961 at the Immaculate Conception
Church in Millhousen, Indiana
and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1985.
Estella was a homemaker and loved to garden. She was a member of St. Louis
Church and a Charter member
of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary #100 of Greensburg.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth “Lisa” NOBBE of Oldenburg,
Indiana; sons David of Greensburg,
Indiana, Phillip of Batesville, Chris of Osgood, Indiana, Ted of Batesville;
sisters Evelyn JOHANNIGMAN of
Millhousen, Lucille SIMON and Patricia SIMON, both of Osgood; brother Dennis
SCHWERING of Greensburg,
as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her
husband and parents, she is
also preceded in death by brothers Thomas, Daniel and Samuel SCHWERING.
Visitation is Monday, September 17th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral
Home in Batesville, with a rosary
service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th, at
St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis DUVELIUS officiating. Burial will be in the
church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate
Conception Church Building Fund.
5) Dorothy C. GIESTING
(November 13, 1923 - September 11, 2007)
Dorothy C. GIESTING, age 83 of Batesville, Indiana, died Tuesday, September
11, 2007 at Hospitality Hall.
Born November 13, 1923 in St. Peter’s, Indiana, she is the daughter of Clara
(Nee: SCHERGER) and
Charles BACK. She married Leonard GIESTING on November 18, 1950 at St. Peter’
s Church and he
preceded her in death on October 9, 2003.
Dot was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Miraculous Medal
Society. Although she was
a homemaker for much of her life and helped on the farm, she worked as a cook
in Cincinnati for 10 years
and 3 years in Batesville at Margaret Mary Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters Kathleen WOLFF of Ann Arbor, Michigan,
Marjorie BAKER of Tucson,
Arizona; sons Lee GIESTING of Batesville, Charles GIESTING of Waldron,
Indiana; sister Marlene HOOG
of St. Leon, Indiana; brothers Albert BACK of New Alsace. Indiana, John BACK
of Brookville, Indiana, Paul
BACK of St. Peter’s, Harold BACK of Brookville, Victor BACK of Sunman,
Indiana, David BACK of Cedar
Grove, Indiana, Charles BACK of Hamilton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. In addition
to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter
Paula TURK; sisters Marjorie
LEHANE, Virginia HUFF and brothers Jerome and Clarence BACK.
Visitation is Friday, September 14th, from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family
Church in Oldenburg, Indiana.
Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. and burial will be in the church cemetery.
