Delores,
I think there is a connection between Honor Durbin Connel and Hannah Durbin Craig and the
Durbins I have been researching in Fayette County, PA .
My gggrandfather's name was Stewart Durbin. He was purported to have been an orphan,
raised in Fayette County by a family named Wilson. This I have not been able to prove.
His death certificate lists his father's name as "John" and his mother's
name as "unknown".
Stewart was born in January, 1841. The Fayette Co. census for 1840 lists a Jonathan but no
John. So I am going on the assumption that that John and Jonathan are the same.
I can find no record of Jonathan after 1840 so I am guessing that he died before the 1850
census.
I also have an Court Record for Jonathan and Job Durbin, sons of Thomas Durbin deceased.
This record is dated Jan. 1824. They are orphans "over the age of fourteen".
This would put Jonathan's birth about 1800. I have a Census record for Fayette County
in 1810, listing a Nicholas Sr.; Elisha; Nicholas; and Thomas as heads of households.
Thomas is listed as having 4 males under 10.
Now go to 1811 and the will of Nicholas Durbin in Shortcreek Twp. Jefferson County, Ohio.
This will list Honor Connel, Hannah Craig, Ruth Glasmer, Mary Durbin, as well as sons
Elisha, Nicholas, Thomas, Jacob, Raphel and Lawrence.
This is where I hope there is a connection. Could Thomas, father of Jonathan, grandfather
of Stewart be the same Thomas in the Jefferson County, Ohio will?
Please let me if any of this rings a bell. If you know of others researching this line, I
would be happy to be put in contact with them.
Thank you in advance for reading this rather long query.
