Obituary Notice:
Alfred E. Morrell was born in Covington, KY. July 24,1826. When
but a boy he was very industrious, working hard every day and saving his
money. He was given a common school education and seemed as if he
delighted in trying to make himself a useful man in the community in
which he lived, he being very attentive to his duties. He was looked
upon as a business man. He was married to Elizabeth B. Shutts, April
15th, 1847, who preceded him to the better land, April 27, 1866. To
this union were born nine children, five boys and four girls, of these
there are but four living.
He, tiring of the Kentuchy hills, in Sept., 1852, moved with his
family to what is now known as Osgood, then called Claytown, Ind. At
that time there was no railroad through here, as only a contracted
