.....I have read many books on the CW and visited battle fields. I have researched the
19th Indiana extensively. There were many soldiers in the 19th from Randolph, Wayne, and
Delaware Counties. I knew about the Ford Brothers. Ike (Isaac Royston)took off and joined
a group of Raiders in Missouri when he was only 13 years old. The Union army arrested him
in Kansas and sent him home to Randolph County. About 6 months later when he turned 14,
his mom took him down to the enlistment office and signed him up. His brother Doctor
Franklin Ford was already in Company C of the 19th.....Ike was sent to join him and the
other Randolph County boys. Ike was shot in the upper arm and carried the bullet in his
arm until he died in 1904. Ike and Doc's sister Mary Ellen Ford is my
great-grandmother.
Their parents are E.Royston Ford and Anna McGuire Mills.
