When I taught at this questionably named school, it was named White River Twp. High School
and held the old McKinley populace as well as its physical aspects. [I began the
cataloguing of the library books which were put on the shelves any old which way.] This
was the school year 1958-59. I think this was the first year it was in business. There
was an elementary wing right beside it to the west that had been there for a little
while. Only a short time later it was changed to a junior high and renamed the Lee L.
Driver Junior High. I remember wondering if they used the "River" to make
"Driver". Incidentally I taught English and French that year and my first
cousin Rosemary Moore was in my class. I had a pot of shamrock growing on my window
heater and one of the little kindergarteners from Mrs. Tony Mendenhall's class would
come over every day to get a handful of it to feed their rabbit............and by the way,
thanks for the memories.........

Yes, the school we were at is Driver Middle School, at one time it was named
Drive High School. =
Andrea,
The middle school was called something like White River Middle School back when the
consolidations started in Randolph County
around 1959/60. The old Winchester High School on the property where the field house is/or
was, was renamed Lee L. Driver High School.
Winchester Community High School was then built in the mid to late 60s and the old high
school was torn down.
