Message Board Post:
Hello to both Andrea and Barb,
I haven't done much posting on the message boards lately so it's fun to have found
something new to research in Randolph Co.. Trouble is - this is not my direct MILLS line,
but because I knew there were/are many, many descendants from the marriage of Joseph and
Sarah Mills, I wanted to post the record info I found on FamilySearch (LDS) website.
Joseph and Sarah MILLS had 11 children and Jacob R. "Jake" MILLS -b: 18-Dec-1852
was their 4th child.
Jacob R.'s 1st wife was Mary A. ROBINSON - died 27-Jan-1912. Jacob R. then married
later on 11-Oct-1922 - to a widow lady by the name of Ida E. (Arment)CLEVENGER.
But - it is the 1922 record information for parents names
that's important in all this. Jacob R. Mills says his father was Joseph MILLS and his
mother's maiden name was Sarah GALBRETH - not Sarah MILLS, as everyone has thought.
If the info for the mothers maiden name is actually true - then those descending from a
Sarah GALBRETH have a new line to research -GALBRETH - to correct their personal Family
Tree information stemming for this Joseph and Sarah MILLS.
Now - there is a method to my madness here - LOL.
My Great Grandfather William Riley MILLS -b: 18-Nov-1852 near Farmland in Randolph Co., IN
- was the Illegitimate son of Martha Jane Driver and a John GALBRETH. I proved this a
couple of years ago by yDNA testing. I was lucky enough to find a true living male
descendant of this John GALBRETH who had already tested his GALBRETH yDNA - so I had my
brother do the yDNA test also. My brother's test matched the GALBRETH test perfectly -
on all 67 markers.
Can't get more proof than that!!
So - I am still looking for a GALBRETH family with a son John that may have been living in
the Farmland area or maybe in Randolph Co..
I have not had much luck so far and would love any help that can be offered. Thanks!!
Sorry for rambling on so...........
Judy (Mills) Boie -
