Hi,
Also look for agreements the foster parents had to sign
papers to send the child to school and keep a roof over
their head and cloth them until they were 18, after a few
months time they could adopt. they also had to write a
couple times a month the Train started in NY and Boston,
then Indiana started their own.

There is, I see, quite a bit on line on the Orphan Trains. You've piqued my
interest once again in the boy my grt grandparents adopted and raised.
Think I'll start at the county level to see if there was an official
adoption...
Thank you!
Shirley

Hello Andrea.
Have you come across anything on the Orphan Train in any
of the News? Before each run a car filled with children
on the train would be printed in the paper; they would
publish when it would be in any of the station along
the railroad tracks so the people that signed up for a child
would be there to sign the papers and take the child or
children off the train; My Grandfather was taken off in
Randolph or Jay County, William Brown at the time, year 1870
we have no record of who took him the first time, he was mis-
treated very badly and ran away, in the 1880 census he was
in the home of Thomas F Bryant and wife Catherine in Jay County
later to move to Randolph Co, after 1880 census, 1900 they were in
Randolph Co.

I took pictures of each page, can send them if you like but they are big
files.
I saw at least 2 stories about the Cholera outbreak, one story I had read
before, about the storm the came right before, and then the smell of
sulpher. I did not list all the people in the stories, just the title
character of each story or column, I plan on putting many on my
biographies
web-site which I plan on redoing completely after I get the museum
web-site
launched.
Are you the one that e-mailed me about a Diggs family book?
One of the Littleberry Diggs in my hubby's line but which one, I have not
figured out yet. I let him work on his stuff when he wants to.
Greg Hinshaw has done research on Amanda Way, perhaps he has more on Dr.
Cook. I will e-mail him and ask.
I'm not sure how far I got through all the pictures I took last night, my
eyes were getting very tired, that's why I put that photo number in to
restart later on. I know I missed that one page continued. Don't know if
I
will get off work before the library closes for me to get that one part.
Andrea
