To find out more about Arba Friends (Quakers) you should visit with Earlham College Lilly
Library Archives. Arba Friends was the first Friends Meeting in Randolph County. Arba
was founded in 1814 while the area was still wild and a part of Wayne County; Indiana
became a state in 1816, and Randolph County was formed from the northern townships of
Wayne County. Arba Friends is still a very active meeting for worship.

According to the 1882 Randolph County History Book by E. Tucker, Arba Friends built a
cabin to hold school in 1815(pg 38), and a meeting for worship house in the fall of 1815.
Tomas Parker is noted several times in the history book as the first settler coming in
April of 1814.
