Steve,
I did some checking for you and probably found things you already
knew. A Rootsweb entry states that he was divorced from his first wife and
that there were two children born of that marriage (no names or gender
given.)
After coming to Indiana he met and married Elizabeth Maxine Green.
She was born in Fountain City, Wayne Co. IN. There were no children of the
marriage.
Both are now dead and are buried in the Buena Vista cemetery, Randolph
Co., IN:

This reads Lot #226, Section 7 and Spaces 1 and 2.
My guess is that you would find little memorabilia concerning the
family in Union City since there were no children. Some relatives of
Elizabeth Maxine might know where the belongings went if you can find them.
Perhaps a GREEN family researcher in Randolph Co. could help you trace this
line.
Regards.

Hello!
I just discovered that one of my relatives died in Union City on April 18, 1992
. His name was Thatcher W. Soule. He had been born in San Francisco in 1908,
and lived for most of his life in Alameda, which is on the other side of the Ba
y from San Francisco. After his parents died in the 1950’s and he divorced his
wife, he set up a picture framing, art gallery and art supply business in anot
her city in the East Bay. I had been researching him - his ads all of a sudden
stopped in 1972, when he would have been 64 years old or so. Then I cannot fi
nd him in California. But I just found his Social Security death notice and a
phone directory listing on
ancestry.com. He was living at 406 Cedar Court in U
nion City.
My great, great, great grandfather was Thatcher’s great, great grandfather. Th
at is how we are related - although we never knew each of us even existed and I
did not know of him until after I discovered his grandfather had moved to Cali
fornia in 1860. (It's a long story...)
He represented the end of one thread of a family line and was a potential sourc
e of family photos and history (where did this go after his death?). So I woul
d appreciate any advice about how I could find such things as his death certifi
cate, obituary, probate/will record and the like. Since Union City seems to be
a small town, I wonder also if there might be someone still there who remember
s him. Is there a local or regional for a freelance researcher who would dig s
ome of this up for me, knowing that I am quite open to paying for this help?
I have some background information on Thatcher that I would be happy to forward
.
By the way, I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to California in 1982
. I had been to many corners in Indiana over time – among my favorites being C
olumbus (because I was trained as an architect), and Brown County and New Harmo
ny. As an apprentice architect I worked on a project for Bloomington Hospital.
I would greatly appreciate your help!
