Randolph County Obituaries 1900-1935 Vol. 1 & 2 pg, 101
Victor Serl Conner, son of William H. and Susan B. Smith Conner was born January 2, 1891.
one mile east of New Dayton Church and departed his life February 14 1908. November 15,
1894 at the age less than four years, Victor was left without the living sacrificial,
watchful care of a mother, generally making his home with his grandfather and grandmother
Smith, where he was always welcome by them. While Victor realized he had no home he could
really call his own, he always seem content, and as he expressed it "I have so many
homes where I feel welcome to go to the cupboard." In the loss of his limb he was
patient and cheerful, and was of such a kind disposition that he had the sympathy and
friendship of all that knew him. The last five or six hours of his life he spent in
earnest prayer for the salvation of his soul and that of his friends. With his words
"I have done all I know," remaining with us, he went to meet a just God, after
an eventful and tempest-tost voyage of 17 yea!
rs, 1 month and 12 days.
He leaves father, one brother, two grandmothers, uncles, aunts, and many other relatives
and friends to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were held at New Dayton Monday morning February 17, 1908, conducted by
Rev. W.H. Thornburg, assited by Revs. Greenwalt and Zelma Johnson. Interment at the same
place.
