WHITESEL Lowell E. Whitesel, age 87, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 10,
2010.
Lowell was born in Randolph County, Indiana, son of the late Jacob and Grace Whitesel.
Also preceded in death by his son, Robert Whitesel, and eight siblings.
Lowell was a farm boy who grew up in Union City, Indiana. Following high school, Lowell
proudly enlisted with the U.S. Army, where he became a member of the 101st Airborne
Paratrooper Division and served during WWII.
Following the war, Lowell attended Wittenberg college, married, and began working for
Standard Tool in Springfield, Ohio as a salesman.
Lowell went on to begin his own family business, Whitesel Tool, and was extremely proud to
have many of his family work with him throughout the years. He served as Post Commander
of the Whitehall (Ohio) VFW and through his tireless work with the VFW organization, he
has received many commendations over the years as well as held many different positions.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn; children, Carol (Charles) Legg,
Tim (Joanna) Whitesel, and Caren Holderman; seven grandchildren; six great- grandchildren;
brother, Paul (Nell) Whitesel; and many other extended family members and dear friends,
especially his VFW friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Kingwood Memorial Park
Chapel, 8230 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, Ohio.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051
