The Randolph County courthouse is open from 8am to 4pm M - F, and is closed for all
federal holidays. Unfortunatly most of us only have holidays and weekends off for
research. You can how ever write the Clerks Office for copies/info but you will need some
dates for the search as they will no devote time to do much searching, so no decades type
of date, a year or two. They do not have much digitzed so it makes it harder for them to
do a search for you. The Clerk's Office would have Civil Court Records, so you would
possibly find adoption case, custody case, you also might find a will or probate case
mentioning the child.
So I would write
Clerk's Office
Randolph County Courthouse
100 S Main Street
Winchester, IN 47394
They do charge $1 a page of copy.
You should also include a self addressed, stamped envelope for them to send items they
might find.
You also might try the local library. They now have an on-line service for research
(fee). They could help via the newspapers, there might be a mention in the paper of a
court case, that type of thing to help you.
