Surname: SHOEMAKER, MILLS
-------------------------
I just recently learned of the connection of my Zilpha MILLS to the Shoemaker
family. The 1850 census, Henry Co, MO has SAMPSON SHOEMAKER, his wife ANNA,
and their children Daniel, 17, b.IN, and Margaret, 13 b. IN, living next
door to Zilpha and her family. After the death of Zilpha's husband John
DAVIS, shortly after the 1850 census, she remarried to James ELLER in 1853,
and moved, with Anna SHOEMAKER to TX. Sampson had apparently died.
Questions:
1. You said SIMPSON, not SAMPSON. The 1850 census lists him as Sampson,
my only reference. What is your reference for the name SIMPSON?
2.You said he was born in Guilford NC 10-6-1806. That is always confusing
to me, because it could mean August 6 1806, or 10 Jun 1806. I got a whole
data base wrong one time by misinterpreting those numbers. Can you give
them to me in MONTH DAY YEAR format?
3. You information of his father as Daniel and Mother as Anna Margaretha
fits with the names of his children by Anna MILLS--first son Daniel and
second child, Margaret.
4. Can you give me any additional information about Sampson/Simpson's family?
Thank you in advance for sharing your research. I am so excited to get
a line on Anna MILLS's family. I am still searching for the name of her
first husband, his death date, etc. He apparently died in WAYNE county,
sometime between the 1823 (Zilpha MILLS born) and 1830 (Anna, her mother)
is listed as the head of household in Randolph Co, which was formed 1818
from Wayne Co.
