CORONER
FILES A REPORT IN SIX DEATHS IN
IN RANDOLPH COUNTY
CORONER RECOMMENDS JURY
PROBE ONE AT WINCHESTER
Winchester, Ind. -- The county coroner, Dr. Lowell Painter, has filed
reports of six recent deaths in Randolph County. His verdict in the case of
MERRILL FRAZE, 31, of Winchester, is accidental electrocution which took
place at 11:58 a.m. July 1, while the victim was working at a transformer
one-fourth mile east of the Maxville Church. FRANK PURCELL, 57, died June
19, the result of a fall which caused a probably cerebral hemorrhage. OSCAR
R. CAMPBELL, 23, died June 17, as the result of an automobile collision, in
which he had been driving a car and was sideswiped by a car driven by Harry
Hill. JAMES O. PATTERSON died of injuries sustained in a collision of cars
while driving in a race on Funk's speedway. MARTHA TOWN died May 14, the
result of an automobile accident two miles east of Winchester. Dr. Painter
said that the cause of the accident is not clear as to details and
recommends a grand jury investigation to determine the cause and blame.
CLAUDE DOWNING died April 10, the result of a fall from a roof of the
Chauncey Watter's building.
