Hi Wiiliam,
The source of my information was the section on the Keener family of Knoxville
in the book "DeArmond Family", Hugh Botkin and Rachel Keener were married
in Knox county, TN
17 Mar 1801. Among the children Hugh and Rachel had were Peter Botkin,
Susannah Botkin and Mary Low Botkin, other children were James B Botkin,
Nancy Botkin, Esther Botkin, Elizabeth Botkin, Talitha Botkin, John Wesley
Botkin, Joseph Keener Botkin, William Miller Botkin, Jonathan Botkin, and
Samuel Thomas Botkin. I believe Talitha would have been named for Rachel's
sister and Esther for Hugh's mother Hester Farmer. Rachel's sister Talitha
married Able Lewis Williams and moved to and died in Vermillion county,
IL. I also believe that Jonathan Botkin was named for Rachel brother-in-law
Jonathan Keener who married Rachel's sister Elizabeth on 2 Mar 1807 and
moved to Randolph county in 1817 as well. According to DeArmond they moved
to Randolph county in 1817. I believe I am descended from Rachel's older
brother Ulrich, whose will is in the Randolph county records, he died 17
Jul 1850. Another coincidence is the Talitha Angeline Keener who married
Lorenzo Dow DeArmond and was the daughter of Rachel's brother Abraham Keener
and his wife Nancy Pitner.
