Hello,
In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, Billy Baker has prepared for us a valuable
new Randolph County resource. He has transcribed the listing of 3,118 men who registered
in Randolph County for the draft which was first held in Oct. 1940, then again in July
1941. The listings of registrants were published in the Union City Times-Gazette. It
gives name and place of residence at the time of registration.
Billy asks that we please first read the introductory material so we will have an
understanding of the details of how the draft was conducted.
Along with Billy's new resource, I have transcribed the names of those who perished in
the line of duty from Randolph County who were members of the Army and the Army Air Forces
listed in the "World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing, State of Indiana" as
published by the War Dept. in 1946. You will find a link to the Army/Air Forces
casualties at the bottom of the Billy's draft registrants file. I am also in the
process of listing the Randolph County casualties who were members of the Navy, Marine
Corp, and Coast Guard but this will take a bit longer as it was not published by county.
Billy's introductory page to the Randolph County draft is at:

Thanks to Billy!
