Death claims retire pastor, Rev. Hamilton.
Rev. William E. Hamilton, 71, retired Methodist minister, died at 2 o'clock
yesterday morning at the family home in Yorktown, after an illness of three
months. He had been a member of the North Indiana Methodist conference for
forty years, serving twelve charges, and as a substitute pastor since his
retirement three years ago.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Yorktown Methodist church at 2
o'clock Thursday afternoon. The body will lie in state at the church one hour
preceding the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery at Maxville, east
of Farmland.
Rev. Hamilton had served as pastor of Methodist churches in Ingalls,
Kempton, New Waverly, Santa Fe, Windfall, Ossian, Lynn, Gas City, Yorktown,
Pennville, Forest and Cicero. He was pastor of the Yorktown Methodist church for five
years. During the past three years, Rev. Hamilton had lived in Yorktown.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Meade Arbegast Hamilton; four sons, James and
Paul Hamilton of Yorktown, Merrill Hamilton of Michigan City and Myron
Hamilton, of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Jackson of Indianapolis,
Mrs. Wayne Dwyer of Yorktown and Miss Mary Hamilton at home; two brothers,
Joseph Hamilton of Winchester and Roy Hamilton of Parker; one sister, Miss
Fannie Hamilton of Parker, and several grandchildren. Another daughter, Miss
Esther Hamilton, preceded her father in death.
