Subject: [MARION COUNTY, IN] The Primitive Baptist Library, Carthage,
Illinois
Greetings,
For the past few years we have been working an on extensive website
with history of Primitive Baptist Churches, county by county, in over
thirty states, mostly in the midwest, but including some information for
states across the northern tier of America. For some of these states we
have only sketchy information, but for others (such as Illinois, Indiana,
Missouri, and Iowa) we have a fair amount of detailed information. We
have tried to locate and obtain church records, and have entered the
names of members into a database, and have also put the surnames of the
members on our website for each church, county by county. We began
working on our database in 1986, and it presently has over 53,000
entries, and we are adding to it all the time as we find more church
records. We have been trying to assist genealogists in locating ancestors
ever since we organized our library in 1988.
To view our website, go to the following URL:

To go directly to the index of states included in our research
(including Indiana), go to

We are posting this message on the county forums for those counties
in Indiana in which the Danville Regular Baptist Association churches
exist or have existed, and we would be grateful if anyone can help us
locate any of the annual minutes of that association which we lack, or
any of the records of the churches which composed the association. Some
of the names of these churches include Abner's Creek (records located),
Big White Lick Creek (records located), Eagle Creek, Union, Providence,
Thorntown, Mt. Tabor, Clear Creek, Cynthiana, Antioch, Little Flock, and
many more.
We have very limited volunteer staff, but will do our best to
respond as time permits.
Sincerely,
Elder Robert Webb
