No doubt Nancy J. was Sarah Elizabeth's mother. Nancy J. SHELLY is livining
with Morris and Sarah E. KEISTER in 1880 and she is listed as
"mother-in-law" making her Sarah's mother. Also, Rebecca J. SHELLY
(sister-in-law) is living with them; so this Rebecca was definitely a sister
of Sarah E.
Per the 1860 census, Sarah E. was the daughter of Christian and Nancy J.
They are living in Union City, Randolph Co., IN as follows:
Christian SHELLEY 29 PA
Nancy J. 23 PA
Mary 4 IN
Sarah E. 3 months IN
Living next door is the probable father of Christian.
Jacob SHELLEY 62 PA
Rebecca 57 PA
Wm. 20 OH
Rebecca 19 OH
Lucinda 18 OH
Lydia A. 1 OH
Malinda 16 IN (not certain on her age)
Matilda 10 IN

Subject: [INRANDOL] Roll Call - Shelley
I need help in finding the ancestors of Sarah Elizabeth Shelley, b 26 Apr
1860. She married Morris Keister 20 Apr 1878 in Randolph County, Indiana.
Sarah died 14 April 1901, Randolph County. Morris and Elizabeth's
grandchildren spoke often of an "Aunt Beck Farring/Ferring" who they believe
was Sarah's sister Rebecca. I think that Elizabeth's Mother's name was
Nancy J. (possibly Strain). Can anyone help me?
Janet Keister Baker
