Marsha,
Did your Rogers originally come from New York?
Gina
not that I can determine. I can only get back to my GG-Grandfather Emsley
Rogers in Darke Co. Ohio. First documented mention of him is at his marriage in
Darke Co. in 1835. His birthplace is uncertain, being listed in various
census and other records as either Ohio or one of the Carolinas (outside
possibility includes Virginia as one census states his parents were born in VA). I
cannot tie him to any known line. My only Rogers ancestors that lived in
Randolph Co. were Jabis Rogers / married to Mary Bolinger (in Darke Co. OH then moved
to a farm north of Farmland at some point) and my grandfather Harry Jennings
Rogers lived in Randolph Co. but moved to Muncie / Delaware Co. later. Harry
married Gladys Leola French, daugher of Bessie Cordelia Sunday and Henry Ward
Beecher French. (My grandmother was married to a man named Everett Byrd prior
to marrying my grandfather.) I know that two of my grandfather's brothers
remained in Farmland until their death. Dorsey and Edward Rogers were my great
uncles but I didn't know them well, just their names really. Some of their
descendents are still around Farmland I believe.
I forgot to add that I also have Sooy, Lowe, and Flood lines that were in
Randolph Co. as well. I have not researched those lines in a while and forget to
include them, but I do have information on all but the Lowe line if anyone is
searching for those names.
