Season's Greetings everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that as of
tonight there are a few things planned for this Christmas Season at the
Randolph County History Museum. An Open House will be December 17 at the
museum from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Those who come can register to win a snowman
comforter, for free. And also on display will a Christmas tree that will
hopefully be filled with lots of handmade Christmas tree ornaments. The
tree and donated ornaments will then be given to a family in need in
Randolph County. It will be a great time to come see the new things at the
museum like the newly restored 1865 Randolph County plat wall map, this
thing is huge, probably 3'x4', Jennifer Caps was able to restore it for us,
thanks Jennifer! There will be finger foods and refreshments served as
well.
Would you like to make an ornament for the tree? We would like to have it
by December 3rd. There will be a competition for the best one. Rules of
course are...1.Ornament must be homemade. 2.Ornaments must represent a
person, place or event in Randolph County. 3.Participants must put name, age
& phone number on the front of a 3x5" index card, and an explanation of the
ornament on the back of the same card. 4.Ornaments must be brought to the
museum by December 3rd. (hours are m-f 10am to noon and 1:30pm to 4:30pm).
5.Reclaimed ornaments may be picked up between December 19-21. 6.Unclaimed
ornaments, along with the tree, will be donated to a needy family in
Randolph County. 7.Category winners will be notified by phone and prizes
will be awarded at the Museum's open House on December 17. Categories are
Adult, Ages 12-18, and Children under 12 years of age.
