Hi Coleen:
Think there might be some confusion as there was more than one Temple Smith
in Indiana during the timeframe you describe.
There was a Temple Smith married to Priscilla Crossley on August 23, 1827 in
Randolph County, Indiana, who had a son, Temple Smith, born September 15,
1842 and died June 5, 1894 in North Platte, Lincoln, Nebraska. He married
Martha Ann Scott, daughter of John Scott and they had 13 children if I
counted correctly. Temple Smith, Sr's parents were Samuel & Elizabeth
(Calhoun) Smith.
There was another Templeton Smith born on December 16, 1809 in Virginia and
died on April 7, 1876 in Roscoe, St. Clair, Missouri. He married Martha Ann
Mansfield on June 27, 1837 in Delaware County, Indiana. His father was
George Smith & Elizabeth (Cook). George was born in Virginia.
I could find no record of a Martha Ann Scott Mansfield married to Temple
Smith. Hope this helps.
Karen

Martha (Scott) Mansfield + Temple Calhoun
Smith Jr circa 1861-1865.
Martha born circa 1847/8 Terra Haute Vigo
Co IN.
Possibly married a Mansfield he may have died during Civil War and she
re-married shortly
thereafter? Any thoughts?
