Gina D. & all <G>
I got a new computer back at the beginning of summer and forwarded all my
emails to yahoo until I got it up and running and then sent them back to my
other account. I had them stored forever on yahoo just in case I would need
them, but must have decided to finally delete them, I vaguely remember doing
that. I went back today to see if they were still in the trash folder and
yahoo had done wiped them out. I didn't know yahoo dumped the trash if you
didn't after so many days.<G> I know they will disable your account if you
are inactive after I think 6 months but didn't know about the trash.
I don't use my Yahoo account that much anymore but have been randomly using
it to keep it from happening again.
I know these emails don't pertain to Randolph County History, but it does
pertain to the way we use our computers to do Genealogy research. If you
have any tips or tricks or have had something like this happen please share
it.
It may save it from happening to others.
Another issue ..... I lost all my links I had in my Favorites Folder and All
my personal contacts in my address book. That Really is driving me crazy!
I have a copy of email addy's that I printed out a long time ago when I
reformatted my old computer, so I will be able to replace all them. Does
anyone know of a way to back up your Favorites or Bookmarks?
I was under the assumption that when you download your email from your
server to your Outlook that the emails you save or move to another folder
was stored somewhere on your hard drive in a Temp Folder in Outlook or in
Program Files. I searched all over for them and couldn't find them before I
reinstalled Windows. I am curious if this is true and I just didn't look in
the right place. If anyone has incite on this let me know it would
definitely be a good bit of knowledge for the next person who has a crash.

I have used the same yahoo account for 7 years and have never had a
problem. I have changed servers several times, but I always have my emails
on yahoo...and (knock on wood) havent lost anything yet.
