Thanks for the suggestion. I had all of my genealogy information that I
received on line and was going to work on later stored in an Outlook Express
file. I lost all my records on Juno before I went to Cox and never did get
them back. Like Gina, I could not remember everything that I had - just
knew it was a lot. I am now transferring everything to a genealogy file in
My Documents. Hope it stays secure there.

Subject: Re: [INRANDOL] Lost Items
I had the same thing happen to me--twice--before I was informed that
Outlook
Express is not a place to carry a lot of stored documents. One is
supposed
to "save as" and move the email to the "My Documents" filing system.
I don't know that this is correct, but I'm in the process of setting up
files and moving everything out of my Outlook Express files. And from now
on, I will keep only short-term stuff there.
As I said, I don't know if this will help, but after losing all of the
email, I feel it's worth a try. The first two times I lost Outlook
Express,
I favorite "geek" was able to restore it so that I only had to rid the
files
of the duplicates. This last time, somehow these files were corrupted and
cannot be retrieved. (He thinks there might be some software that will
allow retrieval, but he hasn't found it yet.)
The feeling of lost correspondence leaves me devastated, but--there's
nothing that can be done about it. I'll just be sure and put everything
in
My Documents and see how that new system works. One thing I hate: filing
into My Documents does not let you file in order of date like Outlook
Express date...
Any different suggestions about what you are doing about your lost files
would be greatly appreciated. As I said, I don't know if the new system
will work, so I would like to hear about alternatives.
Empathetically,
Marian
