Believe Squire was used as a first name in the mid to late 1800's. We have
several individuals in our family tree with the first name Squire and a
surname. No where in any records does a first name appear for these
individuals. It was also a title in England.

Not really, is it a name or is it a title, if its a title then what
makes
a
person worthy of that title. Use to think that Squire was a title for
someone who owned land or someone who was a lawyer. Kinda left it for
now.

Andrea, Did you ever get an answer that satisfied you on this? I have a
Squire
Grant Cantrell in our family and I have just always thought that was only
his name.
