I was in town today so I did stop at the museum on my way home. I didn't get this
message until after I got home, about Otey. I think that year has been done by Austin Cox
in a book form. If so then there should be a copy of the book at the museum, and
Winchester Library and at the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Dept as well.
As far as Lolla is concerned this is what I found.
From the Winchester Democrat Feb 22, 1912.
"Death of Mrs. McMillion.
Mrs. Lolla, wife of Ota McMillion, died Wednesday of last week at her home on the
Michael's farm, six miles north of Winchester, after a brief illness. The deceased
was twenty-four years of age and leaves a baby only nine days old. Funeral services were
conducted Friday at Five Points church, Rev. Zelma Johnson officiating. Burial in
Hopewell cemetery." I took a digital picture of it and will send that off list to
you in a few minutes.
Other items I found.
In the Cemetery Info book there were two readings done on that cemetery there. One did
indeed list her death as 1966. The other list her death as 1912 and as wife of Otey M.
McMillion. These were done by two different people.
I did find her in the index for the County Death Book (1912) #13, page 45, McMillion,
Lolla E.
I also found a list of death info for those buried at the Hopewell Cemetery. Her info
was. died Feb. 14, 1912, Lolla E. McMillion, born 10-16-1887, age 24y 3m 28d, husband
Oley E McMillion, her father - John R. French (IN) and her mother Alla Miller (IN).
I did not find Otey McMillion in the 1919 (Franklin Twp) County Wide Directory.
I will see about his obit next week more than likely, I'm not planning on being in
town the rest of the week. I will also look for the birth of the baby in the index as
well. Do you know anything about the baby?
