In reading some recent Winchester papers last night,
I saw that the ledger which was sold on eBay for over
$1,000. has been return to Randolph Co. There was
a nice front page picture of Monisa Weisner and another
gentleman looking it over.
It was purchased by a member of the Historical Society
(for the Society) with funds donated by unnamed parties.
When they began bidding on the item a few days before the
auction was to end, the bidding was at just over $300. but
immediately it began to escalate.
The seller, a documents collector, stated that she had
purchased it several years ago in Marion. Also, it DID
turn out to be a Justice of the Peace ledger (JP was Asahel
Stone) which the County government was not required to keep.
It will be microfilmed with the original housed at the
Historical Society in Winchester.
In the same paper there were a nice piece about the Reitenour
Cemetery. Monisa was also pictured in this article as she is
of Reitenour descent and also serves on the cemetery board.
