Tim -
There are a couple of projects going on in Indiana right now focusing
on early photographers in Indiana.
My husband's Grandfather - Enos Riley Hiatt (5/17/1861 - 12/25/1935)
had a photo studio in Winchester. And I think he was following in his
uncle's footsteps. (And maybe this is why all our children are so
interested in photography - maybe it's in the genes!)
Here's one link that might get you started on information about your
Indiana photographer:
http://www.ipfw.edu/ipfwhist/indiana/photogra.htm
And here's a nice web site about early Indiana photographers:
http://www.maplewoodfarm.com/photogs.htm
Here's a quote from the second url: Not all photographs were done by
studio photographers. Post card photos were sometimes done by "free
lance" photographers . . .
Good luck,
Karen Hiatt

Subject: [INRANDOL] Old Photo
I received this today:
We have an old photograph of my husband's great-grandparents,
Lorenzo and
Sarah (McCamish) Gantz. We don't know exactly when it was taken,
but we
assume around 1890. The photographer studio is O. L. Day in
Farmland,
Indiana. Do you suppose someone out there might know the dates when
this
studio was in business in Farmland? This photo is on a postcard
approximately 4" x 6-1/2" in size. Thanks for your help.
If you have an answer, reply to me directly and I'll forward it to
the
individual.
