This is a really good idea. How often I've wondered how my ancestors felt
about certain things happening during their lifetimes - the loss of several
children to epidemic, the civil war, having a secret black friend during the
days of slavery, the women's movement...etc. I'm writing a book based on
the life of my gg grandmother, a bittersweet story, and so often I've
wished I could get into her heart and mind. It would give our future
generations an insight to who and what we are (were). It would also
undoubtedly contain details otherwise unrecorded that might be important to
their own searches.

I would like to suggest that inasmuch as our descendants will wonder
how
we
felt about the events of the last couple weeks, we should each write
out
something for posterity --a diary, or just random thoughts about what
we're
feeling, thinking, etc. Print a copy and put it with your family
history.
BTW--it's not a bad way to deal with your feelings, either!
