Welcome, Jeff! This is a friendly bunch around these parts and
I'm sure
you'll find a lot of people helpful as well as willing to accept
help.
Watch the RanCo site! We have a new list administrator who promises to be
most creative and productive - Gina. She's adding new information and
resources to the list everyday. Delco is a great list too and helps a lot
with surrounding counties.
Have fun and good luck,
Shirley

Subject: [INRANDOL] Information on Downing, Hunt, and Wine
Hi Everyone: My name is Jeff Downing. I grew up near Losantville, IN,
graduating from Union High School in 1975. I've been living in Dallas
Texas
since 1982, but retain ties to eastern Indiana, visiting a couple
of
times
each year, or more if time permits. I am very interested in doing
a
couple
of things: researching genealogical information on the Downing,
Hunt
and
Wine families (all on my father's side: Jack Monroe Downing of
Hagerstown,
1929-2001. My mother's (Clara June Mauk Downing) family is
from Ohio,
Kentucky and Wisconsin.). I would also be interested in doing
individual
cemetary inventory, taking pictures of tombstones, creating any
finding
aids, etc.
I'm new at all of this, but am eager to help, even if much of it needs
to be
done long distance. If anyone would like to assign me a task,
I'll be
happy
to work on it. Or, I am happy to begin asking questions on how to
de
research, and hope that viewers to this list will respond.
I have very fond memories of Indiana, and miss it every day. Growing up
near Losantville was, for me, the best place to grow up in the world.
It
was quiet, safe, and nurturing.
Hope to hear from some of you. Maybe even some classmates!
Thanks Jeff
