The Indiana Historical Society will host two Genealogy Research
Workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 14 and 15. Betty L.
Warren, president of the Indiana Genealogical Society will discuss the
reference tools needed to unlock your family's past, including family
sources, census, cemetery and church records. Reference librarians from
the Indiana State Library Genealogy Division will also be on-hand to
review the specific resources available in the genealogy division and an
IHS librarian will discuss how the materials in the Society's collection
may be useful in conducting family history research.
The cost to attend is $30; $20 for IHS members; $15 for students.
Seating is limited and early registration is encouraged. Participants
should choose to attend either February 14 or 15, as the same material
will be presented both days. To register call (317) 232-1882, e-mail
tickets(a)indianahistory.org or download the registration brochure at

Indiana Historical Society is located at 450 W. Ohio St. in
Indianapolis.
Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana's
storyteller, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving,
interpreting and disseminating Indiana history. The independent,
nonprofit organization also publishes books and periodicals; sponsors
teacher workshops; provides youth, adult and family programming; assists
local historical groups throughout the state; and maintains the world's
largest collection of material on the history of Indiana and the Old
Northwest. The Indiana Historical Society is one of the oldest
historical societies in the United States, and one of the largest with
more than 10,000 members. The Society opened a new 165,000-square-foot
headquarters in downtown Indianapolis in July 1999.
