Hi Sandi,
I still have the information you sent me about the death record, I just
haven't had time to update the page yet. But I will get it done. I don't
have as much time to do updates like I used to, since I went back to work
full time. It drives me crazy! <G>
I plan on changing the source information so that researchers will know they
are transcribed from a copy of a transcript, and may contain errors, it
does state that on the main page of the website not to accept anything as
FACT until you have checked it out yourself. I figured there were errors in
the records, but still thought they may prove helpful to researchers, just
like the WPA Indexes.
I made a copy of the transcripts to help decipher some of the old tombstones
as I was working on the burial index. I decided to go ahead and put some of
them online. Do I have the right cemetery for John? I know there is a John
Chandler buried in Union Cemetery.
If it is the same John have you ordered his Pension file to see if it has
more information about his family?
Have you checked into the Henry Chandler family that is listed in Jackson
Township, on the 1840 census? He had several sons, one would have been the
right age for John. There is also a Joseph Chandler listed in the household
as being 87 yrs old and a Rev. War Veteran. I believe Henry was in Kentucky
on the 1830 census.

We emailed about this some time ago and I believe you copied these
records
from some records at the Muncie Library. I would like to get this record
set straight somewhere officially (and this is as near to official as I
know) or get it removed from the internet. Andrew Chandler and Sarah M.
Mullin are NOT John Chandler's parents. When I checked with the Clerk and
Recorders Office in Randolph County, they said there were no parents
listed
for John on his death record. Evidently, this was a transcription
error
and
someone missed a page in between John's record and the next death
record.
I
believe this is probably a death record of a Clevenger who was the
child
of
Andrew Clevenger and Sarah M. Mullin. In doing some further
research, I
found that Sarah Mullin was married to Andrew Clevenger, not an Andrew
Chandler. I am in Colorado, not Indiana, or I would go to the Clerk's
Office to see if the next record is indeed Andrew Clevenger and Sarah
Mullin's child, but in any case, the Clerk and Recorder's Office says
there
are no parents listed for John Chandler.
Thanks for your help in getting this straightened out! And thanks for all
the rest of your hard work in making this one of the best USgenweb county
websites there is!

P.S. By the way, I'm still searching for who John Chandler's parents
really
were!!! John was married to Elizabeth Ellen Thornburg in 1847, born
approximately 1822 whereabouts unknown-North Carolina or Kentucky
probably;
died May 23, 1892, Randolph County, Indiana.
