AGED RESIDENT IS NO MORE
Mrs. Charlotte COOK Passes Away at the Age of Eighty-Five Years Saturday
Evening.
Leave Many Relatives
Was Born in the Year 1823 in Randolph County, Indiana, and Migrated to
Lee County in 1838.
Mrs. Charlotte COOK died Saturday night at 11:20 p.m. after an illness
of a few weeks' duration at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George BANGHART,
322 South Thirteeth street. Her death was not unexpected but nevertheless
comes as a severe shock to those that are left to mourn her loss.
She was a consistent Christian women and to know her was to love her. She
came to Keokuk in November, 1884, and has resided here continuously ever
since except for a short time spent in the south. She was eighty-five years
old at the time of her death.
Charlotte THORNBURG was born August 7, 1823 in Randolph county, Indiana
and emigrated to Iowa, Lee county, with her parents about the year 1838,
was married to Joel COOK in 1842, who preceded her to the better land September
17, 1878.
She is survived by one brother, William THORNBURG of Mt. Hamill, Iowa,
and two sons and three daughters as follows: Mrs. Hugh McCLELLEN of Eureka,
Cal., F. S. and L. W. COOK of Fairfield, Neb.; Mrs. John P. CLIFFORD and
Mrs. George BANGHART of Keokuk; also seventeen grandchildren and twelve
great grandchildren. Mrs. Sam H. LOFQUIST is a granddaughter and Mrs. Robert
HICKS is a niece of the deceased.

Estimable Woman Passed Away Saturday Evening
She was eighty-five years Old and Had Lived in Iowa Since the Year 1838.
Mrs. Charlotte COOK died Saturday night at 11:20 o'clock after an illness
of a few weeks duration at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George BANGHART.
Her death was not unexpected but nevertheless comes as a severe shock to
those that are left to morn her loss.

at the time of her death.
Charlotte Thornburg was born in Randolph county, Indiana, on Aug. 7th,
1823, emigrated to Iowa, Lee county with her parents about the year 1838,
was married to Joel COOK in 1842. She leaves two sons and three daughters
to mourn her lose, Mrs. Hugh McCLELLEN of Eureka, Cal., F. S. and L. N.
COOK of Fairfield, Neb., Mrs. John P. CLIFFORD and Mrs. George BANGHART
of Keokuk. Also 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren of this city.
Mrs. Sam LOFQUIST is a granddughter and Mrs. Robert HICKS is a niece of
the deceased.

COOK--The funeral of the late Charlotte COOK will be held from the residence
of George BANGHART, 322 South Thirteenth street, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Friends
