Surname: MARKWELL
-------------------------
From "The Clay County Sun", Clay Center, Nebraska, dated
February 28, 1908,
page 1, column 6:
Aseneth MARKWELL was born in Randolph county, Indiana, August 11, 1839.
In 1855 she with her father's family removed to Iowa. She was married to
E. J. LOWN July 21, 1872. To this union one child was born who passed into
the Heavenly Father's keeping when he was fourteen months old. In 1880
they moved to Clay county, Neb., where they lived on a farm until December,
1898, when they came to Clay Center, where they have since lived, and where
Mrs. LOWN died at 9 p.m. Feb. 21, 1908.
She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of sixteen and
remained faithful until the end. She leaves a husband, three brothers and
one sister to mourn her departure.
She suffered much but was patient in her sufferings. She often spoke of
her readiness to depart. Christ to her was a real personal Saviour and
friend. She was ready to go and sometimes spoke as if she anticipated the
joys of the Heavenly home.
Funeral service was held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon in presence
of a large company of neighbors and friends. Rev. Chas. BURNS, pastor of
the church, had charge of the service and was assisted by Rev. F. W. BEAN,
a former pastor, after which the body was laid away in the cemetery.
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord: for they rest from their labors."
