Looking for my Temple Smith born abt
1841-2 IN I thought Randolph Co.
He was said to have married my Martha
Ann Scott of IN. Was said to have been
the son of Temple Calhoun and Prescilla
(Crossley/Crossly) Smith of Randolph Co.
He was not in Temple Smiths' will of 1885 and was said that they indeed
lost
several boys in 1860 to diptheria but I have reason to believe he was
not one of
those boys: John C., Jefferson, Samuel,
and George Sylvester was among those
that died the only one that did not die in
1860 wa Samuel, he died in 1838 but I
can not locate them in the Union Twp
Cemetery next to their parents unless
they are not listed in the cemetery index.
That would leave Temple, Benjamin and
William W., who survived to childhood.
Also was said perhaps Marthas' mother
may have been Native American Heritage
but this is unsubstantiated. Possibly he
may have been encouraged not to marry
outside of "his" kind. I have never been
able to locate a marriage record for Marthas' parents who I believe was
a
John and unk Scott.
Thanks for your input and help in this
matter.
